The Dickens Theater Company is looking for actors to portray the roles of the iconic Dickens characters at this year’s Salt Lake Dickens Festival. There are many parts to play and great characters for all ages.

Oliver!: The cast will perform a one-hour review of the classic Broadway musical Oliver! In addition to all the main roles including Fagin, Oliver, Nancy, and the rest of the gang, the directors will be looking for strong teenaged vocalists and dancers to cast as pickpockets.

Scrooge: The cast will perform a one-hour review of the Christmas favorite, Scrooge. This show provides the opportunity to represent some of the most beloved characters of all time. This cast will be made up largely of adults but will also feature those auditioning as a family.

Street Theater: If you want to be involved but can’t commit to the rehearsal schedule, Street Theater is the perfect option. Engage the festival goers as Mary Poppins, the Queen of England, or as Mr. Dickens himself. (Note: all actors cast in the shows will also perform Street Theater.)

Orphan Choir (ages 5 and up): Children cast as orphans in Oliver! will also participate in the orphan choir, learning traditional Christmas carols to be performed throughout the festival.

Audition Details: Please come prepared to sing 60 seconds of a song in the style of the shows, to perform a 30 second monologue with an appropriate accent, and to participate in a dance audition. An accompanist will be provided. Please no minus tracks or acapella auditions.

Other Info: Rehearsals will begin Saturday, September 24th and will be on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays leading up to the performances on December 8th, 9th, 10th, 15th, 16th, and 17th. Both shows will be directed by Andrea Fife with music direction by Jackie Casdorph.
